The India Story releases today across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, a courtroom drama built around pesticide farming and its impact on food safety, a subject Indian commercial cinema almost never touches directly. Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade lead, directed by Chettan DK and produced by Zee Studios with MIG Production & Studios.
Social-issue courtroom dramas are a genre Hindi cinema returns to every few years, usually around subjects with obvious dramatic stakes: corruption, sexual assault, wrongful conviction. Food safety and agricultural chemical use is a far less cinematic starting point, which makes this either a genuinely bold swing or a hard sell to a Friday audience looking for spectacle. The simultaneous three-language release suggests the makers are betting on the former.
