Girish A.D.'s films run on a specific comfort, populated by characters who take small-town oddness completely seriously, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit brings all of that to a genuinely simple love story. Justin, played by Nivin Pauly in some of his most restrained work in years, and Ashley, played by Mamitha Baiju, fall into an unlikely relationship with a real age gap between them, and the film's best moments come from how self-aware both characters are about it, rather than pretending it doesn't exist.

Unlike the brisk pacing of Girish's earlier Premalu and Super Sharanya, this one takes its time to settle, and that leisurely rhythm won't work for everyone. The screenplay leans on familiar beats in places, and a few conflicts could have used more room to breathe rather than resolving quickly. What carries it through is the chemistry between the two leads and Girish's specific, references-heavy sense of humour, which lands more often than it doesn't.

Unlike the brisk pacing of Girish's earlier Premalu and Super Sharanya, this one takes its time to settle, and that leisurely rhythm won't work for everyone.

Four stars for a film that doesn't reach for much beyond a well-told, well-acted romance, and is confident enough in its two stars to let that be enough. A warm, unhurried watch, best suited to an audience that isn't looking for plot twists so much as good company.
