July 2026 Has Been the Strongest Month of the Year So Far

July closes out at roughly ₹493 crore across the Indian board, making it the healthiest month of 2026 outside the Sankranti window, and the reason is unusual: two very different films crossed a century in the same fortnight without cannibalising each other.

Dhamaal 4 took the family and single-screen audience to ₹132 crore net. The Odyssey took the metro multiplex and premium formats to ₹84.15 crore net and ₹100.38 crore gross. On weekdays they now sit within a few crore of each other on the daily board, which is the clearest evidence yet that these are genuinely separate markets rather than competing ones.

The language spread tells the same story from another angle. English has taken an unusually large share of the month on the Odyssey wave, while Hindi held its own through Dhamaal, and the Telugu market ran its own parallel economy with Peddi crossing two million tickets in under three days.

August looks harder. Four major titles share the Independence Day corridor across three days, which historically produces one winner and three disappointments rather than four healthy runs.
