Vishwanath & Sons is confirmed to begin streaming on Netflix from September 11, closing out a theatrical run that crossed 200 crore worldwide. The Suriya-starrer wrapped its India collections at 118.20 crore net, with a gross of 136.85 crore and a worldwide total of 201.75 crore once overseas earnings are added in, according to Sacnilk.
The film opened on August 14 and reached the 100 crore net mark in India in just ten days, a milestone that made it the third Tamil film of 2026 to cross that threshold domestically. Trade trackers noted at the time that Vishwanath & Sons became the fastest film in Suriya's career to reach 100 crore worldwide, hitting that mark in roughly three days on the strength of unusually large overseas numbers relative to its domestic pace.
Directed by Venky Atluri, the film stars Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath, a former Olympic pistol shooter and wealthy businessman whose carefully ordered life is upended when he chooses surrogacy to become a father, only for a medical crisis involving his newborn daughter to test him in ways he had not prepared for. Mamitha Baiju co-stars as the surrogate mother, with the film built around the unexpected bond that forms between them as the crisis unfolds.
The twenty-eight day gap between theatrical release and streaming debut is on the shorter end for a film of this scale, a window that has become increasingly common for mid-to-large releases looking to capture second-screen audiences before piracy erodes the value of an exclusive streaming window. For a film that leaned heavily on overseas collections through its run, the Netflix deal extends its reach into a market where much of its theatrical audience was already watching from outside India.
