Dhamaal 4 Crossed 100 Crore Net on Day 8, a First for the Franchise

Dhamaal 4 crossed 100 crore net on its eighth day, a milestone no film in the Dhamaal franchise has hit before. It closed its first week at 96 crore, then absorbed the arrival of The Odyssey, the biggest Hollywood release of the year on India's premium screens, while dropping only 8.3 percent on the Friday Nolan's film opened.

That is the number worth sitting with. Comedies in their second week usually take a real hit when something this size lands on top of them, eating IMAX and premium format screens that a comedy was never competing for anyway but that still pull general audience attention. Instead the two ran side by side, and neither seems to have taken much from the other.

The film has now held remarkably steady through two genuinely different threats to its run: an IMAX epic in week two, and Thalapathy Vijay's farewell film in week three. Fifteen days in, it remains July's number one film on the board, past Welcome to the Jungle, on a budget reported between 150 and 200 crore.
