The Internet Has Decided Who Won the Ramayana Trailer, and It Isn't the Title Character
Ranbir Kapoor picked up a nickname. Yash picked up the actual trailer. Both are true, and only one was the plan.
Bolly BourseThe Ramayana trailer has done exactly what a first look is supposed to do: it's dominated the conversation for days. What it hasn't done is settle in the direction the marketing presumably intended. Ranbir Kapoor's Rama earned a nickname, RAMbir, and general approval for restraint. Yash's Ravana earned something closer to takeover: repeated praise as the trailer's most commanding screen presence, with more than one comparison to Baahubali's scale.
The reaction hasn't been uniform. A vocal set of viewers pushed back on the visual effects, some calling specific sequences overly digital, and the trailer's heavy focus on Ravana left others joking that Rama looked underwritten in his own film's first look. Sunny Deol's Hanuman was notably absent from the cut entirely, a gap several fans flagged directly.
None of this is a bad outcome for a trailer this expensive. A mixed, opinionated internet arguing over who stole the footage is a livelier result than polite consensus, and the film doesn't release until Diwali. There's a long runway left to rebalance the conversation before it matters at the box office.
