As Karuppu closes its run as Kollywood's tenth highest-grossing film ever, Trisha Krishnan's name sits on the poster of 2026's biggest Tamil hit, another marker in a second act that has been steadily rebuilding since Ponniyin Selvan.

Her career arc over the last three years is one of the more interesting studies in Tamil cinema: a lead actress who stepped back from the industry's commercial mainstream for years, and returned to find herself more in demand than before she left.
