Sai Pallavi plays Sita in Ramayana, and the casting reads differently from almost any other in the film because of who she is off screen. She has famously turned down fairness cream endorsements, largely avoided the promotional circuit, and built one of the most devoted followings in Indian cinema without a publicist shaping it.

For a role that will be examined frame by frame by an audience with strong prior convictions about how Sita should look and speak, that credibility is an asset money cannot buy.
