With The Odyssey now past 125 crore net in India and inside the biggest IMAX opening weekend in box office history worldwide, reports on the money behind it have started circulating: a reported 250 million dollar budget, Christopher Nolan's largest yet, alongside individual salary figures for Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Zendaya.

None of the individual numbers have been officially confirmed by the studio, and reported cast salaries for a film this size are notoriously unreliable until awards-season disclosures or box office bonus clauses become public. What is not in dispute is the scale: a 250 million dollar budget puts this comfortably among the most expensive films ever made, on a director whose last film, Oppenheimer, ran closer to 100 million.

For a film already being read as a test of whether Hollywood can still command India's premium screens the way domestic epics do, the budget conversation adds another layer: at this cost, the film needs a genuinely enormous global gross to turn a profit, regardless of how well any single territory performs.
