The End of Oak Street opens in India today across English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, and with it comes a quiet handover on the country's IMAX screens. The Odyssey had held those premium formats almost entirely to itself since its release, and starting today it shares that real estate with David Robert Mitchell's sci-fi mystery.

Hathaway and Ewan McGregor lead as parents whose suburban street is torn loose from reality by an unexplained cosmic event, with Maisy Stella and Christian Convery rounding out the ensemble. It's a smaller, stranger premise than the effects-driven tentpoles that usually claim IMAX space, closer in spirit to Mitchell's earlier work on It Follows than to a conventional summer spectacle.

Whether Indian audiences turn out for a genre swing this specific, on a weekend already crowded with Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 fighting for the same holiday attention, is the real test. The IMAX slot alone guarantees visibility. What it does with it is a different question.
