Christopher Nolan Says He's Still Looking for the Right Horror Story

Christopher Nolan has said the horror genre fascinates him but that he hasn't yet found the story he considers right for it. He made the comment while promoting The Odyssey, praising the recent horror release Obsession as the kind of premise that interests him.

For a director who has spent his career hopping between heist films, war epics and biography without ever repeating a genre, horror is one of the few obvious gaps left on his résumé, and the comment will now be read as a genuine hint rather than idle small talk.

It also arrives at an interesting moment for the genre in India: horror-comedy has become the most commercially reliable franchise machine in Hindi cinema through Stree and Bhediya, while pure horror auteur work remains comparatively rare. A Nolan horror film, whenever it arrives, would land in a market that has never quite had one at his scale.
