The Mirzapur Cast Threw Themselves a Party Before the Film Even Opened

Weeks before Mirzapur: The Movie opened in cinemas, its cast had already found a reason to celebrate. Divyenndu and Ali Fazal hosted a party in Mumbai on August 27, bringing together members of the franchise's ensemble in what insiders described as a distinctive, one-of-a-kind gathering rather than a routine pre-release mixer.

The timing mattered as much as the guest list. The party landed just after the film's cast had reunited in full force for the trailer launch, giving the ensemble a second chance to be photographed together before the film's September 4 release. Given how central Divyenndu's Bablu and Fazal's Guddu have been to the Mirzapur universe since the show began, their decision to host the evening themselves carried its own significance for a fanbase that has followed both characters since 2018.

The film has since opened well past its opening-week crowd, currently sitting above 170 crore net and still adding double-digit numbers more than a week into its run. Whatever mood carried through that August evening in Mumbai, the box office since has largely justified it.
