Anirudh Scored Vijay's Farewell, and It Is His Fifth and Last Film With Him
Jana Nayagan closes a collaboration that ran across some of the biggest Tamil releases of the past decade.
Bolly BourseJana Nayagan is the fifth film Anirudh Ravichander has scored for Vijay, and with the actor now retired from cinema and serving as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, it is also the last. The film has crossed 268.45 crore worldwide in nine days.
The pairing has been one of the more commercially consistent in Tamil cinema, spanning a run of releases where the audio launch itself functioned as a marketing event capable of moving opening-day numbers. Few composer-star combinations anywhere carry that weight.
Anirudh's own position is unusual: at an age when most composers are still building a filmography, he has scored for most of the biggest names across Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema, and is now closing chapters rather than opening them.
