Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Tracking Higher Than Anything Else This Summer

6.36 lakh BookMyShow interests, a 31 July listing, and a four-language release that will test whether The Odyssey can hold its premium screens.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day lists on 31 July carrying 6.36 lakh interests on BookMyShow, the highest tracking of any film on the July or August calendar in India.

The commercial shape could not be more different from The Odyssey's. Nolan's epic drew nearly four-fifths of its business from the original English version and a metro multiplex audience. Spider-Man sells in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across the whole country, and its Hindi version alone will likely out-earn The Odyssey's entire dubbed business.

For exhibitors the interesting conflict is over premium formats. The Odyssey has held IMAX bookings open into the last week of July and several screens are close to sold out days in advance, which means the changeover on 31 July becomes a genuine negotiation rather than a formality.

Tom Holland will have two films in Indian cinemas simultaneously, which no actor has managed here in some years, and the two are chasing almost entirely separate audiences.
