Review: Bhai Tera Star Hai — ★★☆☆☆

★★ · Raghav Juyal deserved a script built to carry him. This wasn't it.

Review: Bhai Tera Star Hai — ★★☆☆☆

Bhai Tera Star Hai is a multi-plot London-set comedy that mistakes chaos for momentum. The cricket-bet-gone-wrong premise has real farce potential, and Juyal, making his first attempt at solo lead billing after Kill, brings genuine comic energy to it. The direction doesn't give that energy anywhere coherent to go: the plotting is muddled, the pacing lurches between subplots without earning the cuts, and the London setting is used as backdrop rather than texture.

The film also had the misfortune, or the poor planning, of opening the same day as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a scheduling call that alone would have hurt a much stronger film.

Two stars, and most of the blame sits with the writing and direction rather than the cast. Juyal has real screen presence. He needed a script that trusted it.
