Ranveer Singh Credits the Ambani Family for Backing Dhurandhar When His Own Films Weren't Working

Ranveer Singh doesn't usually frame his own career in terms of a slump, but in a new Reliance-produced documentary he did exactly that, tracing the origins of Dhurandhar back to a stretch when his films weren't landing the way they used to. He credited Jio Studios and the Ambani family specifically for choosing to back the project anyway, at a point when conviction rather than a recent track record was the only thing on offer.

His description of actually making the film matched the tone of everything reported about its production since: not an easy shoot to mount, not an easy one to execute, with real challenges along the way. He framed the studio's decision to commit fully despite that difficulty as the thing that let director Aditya Dhar's version of the film exist at all, rather than a scaled-back one.

The film's reception since release has more than validated the bet, and Singh's comments read less like promotional gratitude and more like a specific account of how a single financing decision, made during a genuinely uncertain period for his career, changed the shape of what got made. He's now shooting Pralay, his first major role since the Dhurandhar duology, directed by Jai Mehta.
