Karuppu has closed out its theatrical run as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026, and Kollywood's tenth highest-grossing film of all time, with a worldwide total estimated past 300 crore against a budget in the 130 to 140 crore range.
Directed by RJ Balaji, the film cast Suriya as a guardian deity disguised as a lawyer fighting a corrupt court system, with Trisha Krishnan alongside him. The premise, unusual even by Tamil cinema's willingness to blend myth and courtroom drama, found an audience that carried it through a full 31-day run.
For Suriya, whose recent slate has swung between commercial and author-driven cinema, it is the clearest commercial validation in some time. For Dream Warrior Pictures, it is the studio's biggest hit of the year.
