Jana Nayagan has crossed 191.71 crore net in India, taking its worldwide gross past 317 crore and pulling ahead of Karuppu's own 310.12 crore worldwide lifetime total. The race that defined this film's entire release window is effectively over, and Jana Nayagan is the one that won it.
What makes the finish genuinely notable is what it survived to get there. A high-quality print leaked online early in the film's theatrical run, the kind of breach that has ended box office momentum for far bigger films before. Instead, organized fan turnout treated the leak as an afterthought, choosing the theatre over the download in large enough numbers to keep the film's legs intact through a second and third week that could easily have collapsed.
