Korean Kanakaraju Won Day One. DC Won Everything After.
Two very different films opened the same Friday with very different promotional pushes. The one with the louder Day 1 ended up more than 50 crore behind by the time both settled.

DC and Korean Kanakaraju released on the same Friday, and for one day, the smaller film won. Korean Kanakaraju, a Rayalaseema horror-comedy built around Varun Tej's career-best opening, pulled in a stronger Day 1 than DC, helped by a Telugu-market push that DC's own team didn't match, reportedly by choice. DC, Lokesh Kanagaraj's acting debut for Sun Pictures, opened softer than the buzz around its Anirudh Ravichander score and Tamil-market pedigree suggested it might.
The gap closed fast and then reversed hard. DC settled at 78 crore net in India against Korean Kanakaraju's 23.53 crore, a difference that widened week over week rather than staying close. Made on a reported 7 crore budget, Korean Kanakaraju's 33.37 crore worldwide total is a genuinely strong return on cost, but in absolute terms it never got near DC's trajectory once the opening-weekend numbers were in.
The gap closed fast and then reversed hard.
The two films make an unusually clean case study: same release date, same regional-cinema ambitions, opposite promotional strategies, and a result that had nothing to do with which one made more noise on day one.
