Multiple trade reports this week describe Aamir Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff as being in early talks for a reboot of the Race franchise, produced by Ramesh Taurani's Tips Films. Sources describe Aamir as closely involved in developing the script itself, working with writers to shape a version he feels can bring "a completely new flavour" to the series, while Sidharth and Tiger have both heard the material and responded positively. None of the three has formally signed on, and casting specifics, including who plays what role, remain unsettled.
The reboot is reportedly being built as a clean break from the Saif Ali Khan and Salman Khan eras rather than a direct continuation, with Vijay Krishna Acharya attached to direct, his third collaboration with Aamir after Dhoom 3 and Thugs of Hindostan. Taurani is said to have already begun pre-production. For Aamir specifically, this would follow a stretch of theatrical inconsistency, Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha both underperformed, offset partly by Sitaare Zameen Par, making a strong three-star action ensemble a meaningful bet if it comes together.
Nothing here is confirmed by any of the parties involved, and the project is described consistently across sources as being at a nascent, script stage. We'll update this once anything moves from reported talks to an actual signing.
