Deepika Padukone Just Became the First Indian Actress on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Twenty years after Om Shanti Om, she's joining a 2026 class that includes Timothee Chalamet and Marion Cotillard.
Bolly BuzzsThe Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has named Deepika Padukone to its 2026 Walk of Fame class, and the detail worth sitting with is the word first: no Indian actress has ever received this honour before. She's included in the Motion Pictures category, alongside a class that features Emily Blunt, Timothee Chalamet and Marion Cotillard, twenty years to the year since her screen debut.
That debut, worth remembering here, was Om Shanti Om, a Bollywood launch vehicle that gave zero indication it was pointing toward a Hollywood star two decades later. The gap between those two facts is basically the story of how far Indian cinema's biggest names have travelled in the time since.
No ceremony date has been set yet. Honourees get a two-year window to claim their star on the sidewalk, which means the actual unveiling, and the outfit that comes with it, is still a wait away. Worth circling back to when it happens.
