Cricket Owns Indian Streaming. Everything Else Is Fighting for Third.
Ormax's first StreamView report puts real, sourced numbers behind a truth the trade already suspected: two cricket tournaments out-drew every scripted show and film combined.

Ormax Media has launched StreamView, a new audience measurement framework tracking viewership across OTT originals, television catch-up, films, sports and news in one unified system, replacing its earlier originals-only tracking. The first report, covering January to June 2026, puts real numbers behind what the trade has long assumed: cricket dominates Indian streaming by a distance nothing else comes close to.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup drew an estimated 246 million viewers on JioHotstar, with the IPL close behind at 228.4 million. For scale: the single biggest non-cricket hit of the half-year, Samay Raina's India's Got Latent Season 2, drew 38.5 million, roughly a sixth of the World Cup's audience.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup drew an estimated 246 million viewers on JioHotstar, with the IPL close behind at 228.4 million.
Ormax's methodology is worth understanding before citing any of these numbers elsewhere: figures represent unduplicated individual viewers who watched at least 30 minutes, drawn from a weekly panel of over 3,000 respondents projected against the company's 2025 OTT Audience Report, and they exclude overseas viewers and short-form content entirely.
