Review: Dhamaal 4 — ★★★☆☆

★★★ · Critic-proof by design, and the biggest film the franchise has made in eighteen years. Both facts are the point.

Review: Dhamaal 4 — ★★★☆☆

Dhamaal 4 finished its third week on 155.85 crore net against a 150 crore budget, on 215.29 crore worldwide — the highest lifetime total in the franchise's eighteen-year history and July's biggest Hindi earner. It did that while absorbing The Odyssey in week two and Jana Nayagan in week three without meaningfully dropping.

That durability is the real story. It crossed 100 crore net on day eight, a first for the series, and its weekday holds were consistently better than films opening above it. Comedy franchises are supposed to front-load and collapse; this one did not.

Three stars is where we land, and it is not a criticism dressed as a compliment. This is a film built to be exactly what its audience booked, and it delivered that with more competence than the genre usually manages. It is not trying to be more than that, and rating it against films that are would be a category error.
